We are proud to announce that Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, is joining the NHS Addictions Providers Alliance.
The mental health and community services Trust provides integrated treatment for ex-military personnel with co-occurring mental health, substance use and addictions support through Op COURAGE South East, The NHS Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. Op COURAGE is dedicated to supporting people who have served in the British Armed Forces, including veterans, reservists, and those preparing to leave the military. The Berkshire-based team provides tailored, trauma-informed care, recognising the unique challenges faced by those with a military background.
This collaboration strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality, integrated support for veterans affected by substance use and addiction alongside mental health problems, connecting them to specialist services and promoting long-term recovery.
Led by Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, this initiative reinforces our commitment to providing seamless, veteran-focused care. By working in partnership with local and national organisations, Op COURAGE South East continues to ensure that veterans and their families have access to the expert support they need to build resilience, wellbeing, and independence.
Welcoming the Trust into the Alliance, APA Chair Danny Hames said:
“We’re delighted that Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is joining the APA. Veterans are an often overlooked group of people in society who are at higher risks of experiencing drug and alcohol-related harms alongside a range of other difficulties and we are looking forward to bringing the Op COURAGE team’s specialist knowledge and experience into our network. Their membership is reflective of the fact that the APA continues to broaden its reach and scope across the NHS wherever difficulties and dependencies around drugs and alcohol appear, particularly in the mental health field. We look forward to continuing this momentum in the years to come and I’m sure Berkshire Healthcare will play an important role in that mission.”
